彼岸花の花弁の様な円熟した赤色。
「彼岸花」の名は、夏が終わり秋風がそよぐお彼岸頃に咲くことに由来する。またその毒性から、”食べた後は彼岸の向こう側(あの世)に行ってしまう”という意味も込められている。
何もない所に突然花が開く様が、”狐が化けて出た様”に感じることから、別名「狐花」とも呼ばれる。
不吉なイメージを連想されることが多い一方で、”赤い彼岸花”には「想うはあなた一人」という花言葉もある。
