The Infinite Game, a small, claustrophobic baby room where the gloves come off. There is little sense for debate between small children, no alternate paths to achieve goals, no reevaluations, only the individualistic thought to get what is desired.
This metaphorical artwork reflects the turbulent world of international diplomacy. Three babies in a globe-shaped bench, fighting over resources and control. There are no parents in the room, just a bunch of baby phones to supervise the whole thing. The viewer might not see it so quickly, but all three babies are fully aware of the clock hanging on the wall on the other side of the room. Nothing feels more real for small children than the passing of time and getting what you want during it. Weirdly, life maybe doesn’t change so much after all.
These emotions still have a huge impact on the global political theater today.
In Taiwan brawling in parliament is a political way of life, it’s not uncommon either in multiple eastern European countries. Where there are countries with state-controlled press and sometimes no opposition to fight with in the first place, in most countries we have political multi-party governments. This does not mean these systems always reflect a socially driven platform for debate, online hate campaigns, name picking, textbook blame avoidance tactics… it’s all there.
As an artwork, this baby room may best reflect one of Churchill’s famous quotes:
“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried.”
