This is a view through a telescope lens and a large air mass between it and the forest. In fact, this is an exoplanet with moderate conditions for potential life, comparable to Earth. The atmosphere is thin and warm, and a solid, presumably crystalline surface is visible through it. Due to the chemical composition of the atmosphere, sunsets at the site are ephemeral purple.
