Originally an print exclusive to the Kickstarter for my art book, "Daya", TAHITIAN WATERS was inspired by mythology and the colors of French Polynesia. There are places in the world that make it easy to ask, "What if the stories were true?"
Mermaids were rarely depicted as benevolent creatures. The idea of a potentially cruel being disguised as something beautiful is a theme that brings with it many layers of storytelling. In those layers we find nuance. And it's worth painting.
