Ender Diril

My career began as a digital artist in 2002, and I continued as a creative director and team leader in several agencies. Since 2010, I have been working as a UX/UI Lead Designer, managing the branding and development processes for significant projects.

However, I never let go of my passion for art, which I have had since I was a child.

I have always been a big fan of fantasy and science fiction movies, and I seriously considered mixing these genres in my works. This blend includes fairy tale vibes, creating alternate timelines and dimensions, horror vibes, sci-fi vibes, surrealism, fantasy art, and maximalist art. My influences include '80s fantasy movies, adventure games, and Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 game covers. In summary, my work can be described as a mental journey through space and time with a touch of sci-fi/fantasy art. To achieve this, I began working with different AI tools at the beginning of 2021 and combined the results with my photo manipulation skills, allowing me to bring my imagination and compositions to life.

Centuries ago, he was banished to this wretched cave, a place that devoured his boundless power, keeping him confined. His once placid soul, now an empty shell devoid of its pearl, remained in exile. That was until the day he decided to unleash his torment upon the entire world.

Extraterrena Potentia: 'Extraterrena' means 'otherworldly' or 'extraterrestrial' in Latin, and 'Potentia' translates to 'power' or 'entity,' emphasizing the powerful beings or entities in this collection. But first, let's address a crucial question:

What inspired this collection?

I have always been a big fan of cosmic horror and sci-fi movies, and I entertained the idea of incorporating these genres into my creations. This involved crafting alternate timelines, exploring dimensions, delving into supernatural horror, and conjuring celestial beings. My passion lies in creating these fantasy artworks, along with crafting unique storylines. My journey began when I was 16-17, during the heyday of Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 games. I was utterly captivated by the code, storyline, music, and graphics quality of these games, even with their limited disk resources.

Amiga 500 games were typically distributed on floppy disks, with the most common format being the 3.5-inch double-density (DD) floppy disk, holding 880 kilobytes (KB) per disk. Some games also came on high-density (HD) floppy disks, with a storage capacity of 1.76 megabytes (MB) per disk. Consequently, Amiga game disk sizes varied, but they generally fell within the range of kilobytes to a few megabytes. It's been 36 years since Commodore introduced the Amiga 500 at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 1987.

Recently, I began collaborating with SDXL v1.0 and created otherworldly scenes and entities that matched my imagination, resulting in a vibrant and overwhelming atmosphere like none other. Later, I continued my creative journey using an incredible Photoshop Plug-In called @AlkaidVision and encountered Pixel Art XL-Lora. I decided to use my otherworldly prompts with this sampler. Initially, I was thrilled and shared my results with close friends in the community, but I felt something was missing.

I had already been working hard to integrate my SDXL-adjusted prompts into a new sampler, but I knew there had to be a way to make it better. That's when I had a sudden flashback to the golden days of my gaming history and the unforgettable memories they left behind. These memories held immense artistic value for me, and I decided it was time to draw inspiration from them.

It was a truly magical day in a time machine, and now it's time to go back to work.

On the AMIGA 500, only 32 colors were generally available, and developers sometimes opted for fewer colors to conserve resources. This led me to a new challenge: preserving my colorful creations but with fewer colors using the new SDXL sampler. I started experimenting with DDIM and later DPM2, which yielded better results, though I wasn't quite there yet.

After a week of experimenting, I realized I was stuck in a repetitive cycle, and it was time to think outside the box. I decided to use the initial output with a different sampler that I believed would work. In just one day, with an adjusted prompt exclusively for this sampler, I achieved the desired results.

Now came the challenge of replicating the AMIGA 500 graphic style, which wasn't easy. First, I needed to determine a precise pixel size for the original output and then resize the work accordingly. Next, I began creating an index color palette, limited to only 8 colors. To generate neighboring colors for each piece, I utilized maketintsandshades. However, I was still missing the NTSC retro TV shader effect in some ratios, which required additional experimentation. It took considerable time, but I finally achieved the desired effect. Even when enlarged, the image effect remains unaltered.

Today, I'm delighted to share these unique artworks and their cosmic stories with you all. This is a testament to the power of creativity:

When imagination unfolded on screens no larger than a floppy disk’s capacity, when the Amiga 500 reigned supreme, when creativity was compressed into 1.76MB, when gaming was pure magic.

He traversed this infernal realm, intertwining dark incantations that echoed through time. With the heart in his grasp, pulsing with the collective sorrows and sins of the souls it had witnessed, each beat reverberated through this hellish dimension, a cosmic reckoning.
