"GreyWorks" is a collection of artworks by Riccardo Malleo in which the grey color is reinterpreted through the juxtaposition of opposite concepts. As the union of black and white, it symbolically becomes the point of equilibrium between complementary forces that do not suppress one another but, on the contrary, are fused harmoniously together. Thus, grey is the tone of contradictions and paradoxes, where the incongruities are both resolved and unresolved at the same time.

The grey color is simultaneously neutral and dynamic, as the eye perceives it differently depending on its surroundings. Additionally, it can generate infinite variations of tones in luminosity, hue and saturation when mixed with other colors.

Distant concepts like light and shadow, color and non-color, background and foreground, stasis and transformation, illusion and presence, completion and loss, converge here in a series of minimal compositions. These works serve as a visual meditation on the many possibilities offered by this color.

The involved process is composed of a range of diverse practices, such as footage recording, editing and effects, generative art and animation, and is guided by the acts of combining and subtracting while maintaining simplicity.
