The Whales of July

The letters that appear in three dimensions are the skeleton of a letter, formed by INFILL, a structure generated inside when printing with a 3D printer, a new reproduction technology. By transforming a structure that is supposed to be three-dimensional into two dimensions, we attempt to preserve the letters as they are from a contemporary perspective.  立体的に映る文字は、新しい複製技術である3Dプリンタで印刷する際に内部に生成される構造体=INFILLによって形作られた文字の骨組みである。現在多く流布しているゴシック体を立体化したものから生成された構造を文字と見立てることによってそれは「文字に基づいた象形文字」となる。
