Abandoned buildings in the city of Pripyat, Chernobyl exclusion zone, on a cold December morning.
The town of Chernobyl was evacuated on April 27, 1986, one day after the accident. Evacuation was planned for some 50,000 people, but the actual number was lower because some had already left the city or had gone elsewhere over the weekend. Much of the belongings remain abandoned, frozen in the memory of that fateful day.
Photograph taken on December 15, 2017, on a foray to Pripyat, 18 km from the city of Chernobyl, a ghost town due to the April 26, 1986, nuclear accident at the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin nuclear power plant.
Photograph that is part of a photographic project on Chernobyl.
