One of the seemingly worst words a woman gets called is 'slut'. It's as if the most shameful thing a woman can be is sexual, or worse, enjoy it. Many women hesitate from exploring their own bodies and it’s needs due to the shame associated with self pleasure. Masturbation is commonly associated with only the male experience and women’s self gratification is often deemed unacceptable. When sex is spoken of among straight men, it is generally from the context of doing something to her, not with her. The idea comes from the inherent, still persisting belief of women's only value being their body & it being men's property. There are roadblocks everywhere trying to keep women from having agency of their own bodies, do what they want with it without being judged.
