The Asiatic lion is a population of Panthera leo leo that today survives in the wild only in Sasan Gir, Gujarat, India.

These Asiatic Lions are huge and on average, male lions weigh 190kg. I was lucky enough to find this sub-adult on an evening which he was on waterbody quenching the thirst.

There are around 700 Asiatic Lions in wild.
