It was Sunday, July 7, 2019, knowing I had to work the next morning but possible severe storms, I gambled and made the long 7+ hr drive to Saskatchewan.
While there, I met a fellow storm chaser/friend and chased a few decent storms. We were running out of day light, when a final "tail end Charlie" storm popped up on radar, we fled towards it. As we approached, we got a Tornado Warning on our phones and before we knew it we were standing in front of this beast as it took a breath of life! Sunset, rotating mesocyclone, lightning, wind that sounded like music...it was pure SUNSET SUPERCELL MAGIC! In this moment I've never felt more alive and full of energy!

Then things turned dicey...
Our road options and data were limited, we made 1 wrong decision and were forced to take shelter.
Grain bins lifting in front of our eyes; high speed inflow winds;
ping pong sized hail; hearts racing!
We made it home by 6am, just in time for work and to find we were likely staring down a nighttime tornado.
