I was born in Taipei, but grew up in Las Vegas. During junior high school, instead of swimming, playing sports or going to the mall, I sat in the library for hours watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos videos.

Carl Sagan protested nuclear tests at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site and was arrested twice for protesting.

On September 28, 1986, Carl Sagan gave a talk at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I was one of the lucky people at this riveting lecture, and I stood in line afterwards to speak with him.

After Carl Sagan shook my hand, I asked him if I could take him to lunch while he was in Vegas, he looked amused, but he said he was busy as he already made plans with others.
