In a library where there are all possible books, the librarian reads one book after another, searching endlessly for the secret volume that decrypts the vast majority of meaningless books that are housed on the shelves of this infinite library. He believes (or wants to believe) that there is a book that reveals this secret. He feels that his life will end without his quest succeeding and he would be content to know that someone read it or will read it some time, that would elevate that reader to the level of the all-knowing. That fact alone would give meaning to the ad aeternum existence of the library... which others call the universe.
