The Costa Concordia was a cruise ship built in 2006 by the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, for Costa Crociere (a unit of Carnival Corporation).
On 13 January 2012, the Costa Concordia ran aground after striking an underwater rock off Isola del Giglio, with 4229 people on board. Thirty-two people died as a result of the collision and evacuation. The ship partially capsized on 14 January 2012
The parbuckling operation of the Costa Concordia was started at 9:00 on 16 September 2013, after a start that had been delayed by 24 hours due to bad weather.
The ship was righted on 17 September 2013
