May 18, 2022 in Holly, CO: I'm right between two electric storms riding the border between Colorado and Kansas. Precipitation is beginning to wet my face and lens, but something different is raining around me. Massive cloud-to-ground lightning bolts are hungrily connecting with the earth. The vision I'm after is so close. I shakily mount my camera to the tripod quickly adjusting my focal length and settings. Will I be fast enough? Right as I dial in my focus the sky lights up with a blinding flash! A twisted close-range bolt fills the frame almost perfectly aligned with the road. The fury of nature will forever humble me and shape my artistic journey.
