In reminiscence of Lawrence Weiner's installation from the year 1990 on Flakturm in Esterházypark, Vienna. The original was painted over in 2019, but soon after a graffiti appeared on another bunker 3km to the north. Six of these massive concrete buildings are left over from WWII and Weiner's words still talk loud against war and fascism.
Is it wrapped into tarpaulin? Or casted in acrylic epoxy? What has happened? The concrete flak tower has been mangled through a process of aerial photography and AI photogrammetry, transferred to polygonal clusters. Finally the object was textured with a warped low-res picture of the real scenery.
It's like a digital objet trouvé (found art). Researched, discovered and filmed, placed on his virtual black turntable by artist Josh von Staudach. Besides a slight increase of contrast and saturation no additional effects are applied.
