In the middle of Utah’s desert lies this magnificent butte piercing through the never ending landscape below. The first time I saw a picture of this location, I knew I had to find it. This butte is very important to me, as it was one of the first locations I ever photographed since picking up a camera in 2020.
This specific January day I was alone. I drove around the butte to get a new perspective that I hadn’t explored before. When I arrived at the spot, I spent the next two hours watching the sun go down and planning my composition. I decided to fly my drone to scope out a few spots and when I did I was taken aback. What I saw were vein-like structures flowing down from the butte. The sun cast shadows on the hills which accentuated the prominent features even more. I snapped photos until the very moment the sun lit up the side of the butte and peaked through the clouds. This was a sunset I’ll never forget.
