METAGRAPH ANIMATION #8 // This piece is based on the eponymous vector-based digital drawing from the artist's Metagraph series. The composition is inspired by a diverse range of sources including Hokusai's woodcuts and pastoral landscape painting. "Still Moment" was originally drawn in Illustrator in 2004 and reborn as a Techspressionist audiovisual NFT 18 years later. The original soundscape collages a sample recorded by the artist near his home in Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest with the first audio recording of sounds on Mars. The Mars recording was made by the SuperCam instrument on NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover on Feb. 19, 2021, just about 18 hours after landing on the red planet. The rover’s mast, holding the microphone, was stowed on Perseverance’s deck, and so the sound is muffled; just a little wind can be heard. Audio Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/LANL/CNES/CNRS/ISAE-Supaero
