When we talk about VFX we imagine explosions, destruction, energy waves etc.. stuff that we always see in movies, but VFX for me is exploring the effects in real life that have been tried less.
Simple things like what if you drop a fireball on iron or how a paper looks when it's burning… easy to describe but challenging to recreate!

The FX Series is a project that I started about 2 months ago. It's all about simple visual effects but hard to execute to challenge my VFX abilities.

At first some of the effects seemed impossible to create, but I insisted for days until I found a good starting point.

I had the idea of burning paper for a long time! This one was the most challenging out of three! I’ve never seen a 3D burning paper effect before that was executed very well and it was an impossible task at first, But I had to push it!

The problem was paper ash behavior doesn't fit in the scope of any solvers out there! That was not fluid, not cloth or anything like that. It had to be created in a custom way, so I created it using particles from the ground up and meshed it later!

The vibe and the story you get from the piece is about evoking memories, a crumpled paper that you threw away a long time ago is now getting alive!
