I created these snowflakes in 2001 using Lightwave3D and an early procedural modeler called "Xfrog". I spent quite a bit of time on trying to make interesting designs.
They probably aren't scientifically accurate but I was going more for aesthetics here.
I only featured "Winterborn [I]" in my gallery and the others were displayed in what I call my "Pickle Jar".
I use the Pickle Jar to display all of alternate takes and different versions of the images that I feature in my main gallery. They are the pieces that don't fit and I took the same from my days working as a preschool teacher before I became a visual artist.
When the kids would play "Duck Duck Goose" we called the middle (where they'd sit if they don't fit) the "Pickle Jar".
I felt like these snowflakes would be the perfect first collection for me because they are very similar at first glance but unique when you look closely.
