A Tibetan Monk sits on a rooftop in McLeod Ganj and watches a bustle on the busy street below. This rooftop was across from my guest house and I spent a fair amount of time sitting with monks, locals and travelers watching the waves of humanity below. The juxtaposition of modernity in the background always gives me pause. This shot has layers.

This image was part of a documentary project exploring the cultural preservation of the Tibetan Exile Community while documenting in India in 2006.
