"Hills of Gold" holds a special place in my heart, which is why I am over the moon to have it be my genesis piece. This shot features one of, if not my favorite mountain, Mount Sneffels nestled in the mighty San Juan Mountain Range standing tall at 14,157 feet. I have stood on top of this mountain at sunrise, spent many days/nights camping in the meadows below it, but I can't remember a moment quite as beautiful as this one here, watching the mountain bask in the golden light of sunset, a fresh coat of snow and the valley filled with those famous Colorado fall colors. The show seemed to last for what seemed like forever, and as I dialed in the settings on my camera to capture the light, I made sure to appreciate the beauty of what was before me. Sometimes I need to be reminded of what a beautiful world we live in, and this scene was a swift reminder of that.
