The sun was setting over the village when Wakan heard the sound of drums. He knew that the drums meant danger. He rushed to his wife Kina's side and held her tightly. They both could hear the shouts of men and the sound of horses approaching the village. Wakan looked towards the hills and saw the dust clouds rising. He knew that soldiers were coming.
Wakan and Kina quickly made their way to the center of the village, where they found Wakan's sister Nuna and Chief Taipa. They could see that the other villagers were also gathering, and there was fear in everyone's eyes.
Suddenly, the soldiers burst into the village, firing their muskets and swinging their swords. The villagers fought back fiercely, but they were outnumbered and outgunned. Chief Taipa ordered the women and children to hide in the nearby forest while the warriors fought to defend the village.
Wakan, Nuna, and a few other warriors fought bravely, but they could not withstand the onslaught of the soldiers.
