This long-abandoned hotel was located in East Germany. It was built in the 1960s and enjoyed many years of success. At the turn of the millennium, two new large hotel complexes were built in the town. These modern, luxurious hotels drew in the customers, and the older hotels began to close one by one.

This hotel managed to limp on until 2010 before closing down. This photograph is of the restaurant area; where the rooms show the most decay. The dated decor is offset by wonderful vivid green moss growing on the carpet, and green algae spreading across the walls. Four mustard yellow chairs stand at a single round table, with an almost pristine white tablecloth. The hotel was demolished in 2021.

This is my Foundation genesis collection, where I highlight the main reason for my photography. To preserve the memories of these abandoned places, before they are lost forever.
