Located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park, Chancellor hut is New Zealand’s oldest alpine hut. There is nowhere else like it in the world. It sits on a tussock shelf high above the Fox Glacier and from above the hut you can see the highest peaks in the Southern Alps. A glacier melt feeds the thin silver streams of the Fox River. In the far distance, the West Coast ocean haze blends seamlessly into the sky. I absolutely loved creating this piece and it came together so naturally. I really wanted to portray the feeling of being here through colour, warmth and depth. It’s a ritual of mine to go hike high above the hut in the evening to get the last of the light. This truly fills my soul and in these moments nothing else matters except the present. I wanted this image to capture that moment.
The first collector will receive a physical Fine Art Print.
