Huts and bivvies are dotted all around the backcountry of New Zealand. It's like nowhere else on earth. Empress hut is perched in a truly wild location, right below the Sheila Face of Aoraki Mt Cook at 2500m.

There’s nothing like the feeling when you finally set sights on your backcountry hut for the night after a strenuous day scrambling through New Zealand’s rugged and unpredictable backcountry.

I feel fully alive when out exploring my beautiful country and it brings me so much pleasure to relive those experiences when I create artwork of these places.
