Karatholuvu Chandrasekaran Sivasankaran (KC Sivasankaran, Artist Sankar), (1924-2020) was Padma Shri recipient Indian artist who primarily contributed to the Indian Language magazine, Chandamama (aka Ambulimama). Sankar was the artist behind the signature painting of the Vikram & Vetala series, featured in Chandamama. I'm sure many in India at some point read or heard about the Chandamama books. Before the Internet & cellphones, one source that helped kids reconstruct a story in their thoughts was the Chandamama magazine. The drawings were bright and full of expressions, creating a magical world for children to escape to.

This NFT is a fitting tribute to the Legend on GURU PURNIMA ॐ🌕 from a brilliant illustrator who got the chance to work under him for a brief period of time.

To excel as an artist, Sankar sir’s advice is "to give one’s heart & soul to the piece one is working on and be truthful to whatever one does".
