“The Monastery | الدير” is the second of three images that comprise “The Genesis Series”.

Each of the images in this body of work represents a pivotal point in my creative career.

• “The Monastery | الدير” was captured in January 2019 in Jordan, and it was on this trip that for the first time I felt a certainty in my new creative career, that I could sustain myself through this passion.

It was my first paid travel photography job, and it came at a time where I was debating whether or not I would be able to sustain this venture. This trip was the turning point.

Historical monuments have always fascinated me, so the lost city of Petra blew my mind.
A prehistoric city dating back as far as 400 B.C., carved as tall as 47m, into a sandstone valley with precision in carving that can’t be made sense of.

This place was a creative playground for me, it was here that I felt a need to emphasise on the story telling in my photography.
