A moment when time stood still and life's worries ceased to exist.

In the Cascade Mountain ranges of Oregon lies one of the deepest lakes in the world. Formed by the eruption of Mount Mazama around 7,700 years ago, Crater Lake sits at a depth of 1,943 feet deep making it the deepest lake in the United States. The national park was established in 1902, making it the 5th oldest national park in the U.S.

Growing up in Oregon, I had visited this location multiple times but had never seen it under conditions like this. As the sun began to set on the horizon the sky quickly started to burn a bright orange. I had to sit and take in the breathtaking scenery in front of me for a second before I grabbed my camera. The sky continued to burn for the next 20 minutes into a perfectly pastel pink that reflected across the vast, blue lake. Like a scene from a dream, the vibrant sky slowly dissipated into the night.
