The Western shores of the islands of the Outer Hebrides suffer the full ferocity of low pressure North Atlantic weather systems and Luskentyre on the Isle of Harris is no exception. The extensive dune system serves as protection to the native flora, fauna and inhabitants of the numerous dwellings that are located along the coastline, but down on the flats, the weather carves constantly shifting patterns of layered sand amongst the tussocks of isolated grasses as evidenced in this, one of my favourite images from this location.
