“The smaller a mustard seed is, the more it believes it is the center of the World.”
- Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
Narcissism carries many masks: holiness, sense of duty, friendliness and love, modesty and pride.
Sigmund Freud says what applies for someone who is self-seeking also applies for the narcissist. His pervasive interest is less to acquire something, but rather to admire himself.
The narcissist doesn't give love to others, he only gives it to himself.
On the surface, these people seem to be in love with themselves. In reality, however, they dislike themselves and with their narcissism and also with their self-seeking, they try to compensate their fundamental lack of self-love.
