As a bored kid in elementary school, counting away the minutes until the bell, I became obsessed with mechanical pencils and graph paper. The perfect square grid the paper provided were my yet to be discovered computer screen pixels and gateway to drawing simple shapes to create complex patterns.
The Simple Shapes series hopes to capture that fond analog memory in the digital world by creating complex but soothing patterns and transitions using only simple 2 dimensional shapes.
02 Hexatriacontagons - A hexatriacontagon is a 36 sided polygon. The animation shows 60 hexatriacontagons rotating around the perimeter of other hexatriacontagons creating a pleasant circle to the naked eye at the center and perimeter while the more visible edges send ripples through the body of the animation.
