Shirakawa-go in this photo is one of Japan's World Heritage Sites.
Old Japanese houses covered in deep snow are as beautiful as the world of fairy tales.
Shirakawa-go is a heavy snowfall area, but in recent years there have been many years when the amount of snow is small, and it is not always possible to see the beautiful snow on thatched roofs.
This photo was taken on the day when the heavy cold wave from the Sea of Japan caused a record heavy snowfall.
At the site, the sight of the people living here working together to remove snow is impressive, and this work was taken with gratitude to the people who support the beautiful scenery.
