Once upon a time in Pacific Northwest wilderness, there was a story about shapeshifting mythical creatures living near the sea and forest. Native Alaskan people call them Kushtaka — Land Otter Man. With half-human half-otter body, a keen sense of hunt and magical possession, this is a reason why they are feisty and elusive monsters. Most of them once human before being kidnapped or lured to death by Kushtakas, then transformed into their kind.
