one must vanish into the wind—
fly far away,
to unremember love.

Forget the name,
leave it among wandering clouds,
like promises dissolved in the sky.

Then you fly
not to escape
but to unmake yourself,
to build an elsewhere
on clods of absence,
sowing fragments
of what never was.

And finally touch ground,
with empty hands,
to whisper thanks for the journey shared,
even if brief,
and smile at the time that passed through us.
