Inspired by the film "The White Meadows", this image reflects the deep-rooted superstitions and traditions that once prevailed in southern Iran. In their pursuit of blessings from the sea, the people chose a beautiful, virgin girl, sending her into the waters at night—offering her as the 'Bride of the Sea,' believing the sacrifice would bring them fortune. The film won Best Feature Film at the 31st Durban International Film Festival in 2010.
