A few years ago, I worked as a financial advisor and felt like I was not living the life that was meant for me. I moved into my self-converted van, headed west with my old cat and embarked on a mission to explore the wilderness alone to see how far I could push myself physically in an attempt to find inner peace. I completed my sea kayaking level II cert, bought my 1st camera and spent years exploring my passions.

Extreme physical activity combined with nature's soothing silence made a dramatic impact on my mental health, so I was finally able to crawl out of my shell and discover who I was meant to be. This is a composite image of 2 of my favorite shots. I took the photo of the kayak years ago at sunrise during a 44km kayak trip, and the milky way recently on Vancouver island.

Life is a journey of exploration and inner growth. To me this image is a reminder that the possibilities are limitless when you take risks.
