Indonesian digital art is a universe that blends ancient cultural roots with the modern possibilities of technology. This exhibition explores the fusion of millennia-old cultural heritage with contemporary expression through the works of talented Indonesian digital artists.

Indonesian Digital Art and Ancient Culture

Indonesia, a land of ancient traditions and rich artistic heritage, provides the perfect backdrop for digital art that embraces the past while embracing the future. Indonesian digital artists find inspiration in the deep roots of their culture, reinterpreting ancient symbols and mythologies through a modern lens.

Works like those of Puja Wardana capture this dialogue between ancient and modern, blending the richness of Balinese masks with the influence of a contemporary artist like Basquiat.

Neo-Expressionism and Basquiat

Neo-expressionism, with its fervent rebellion and its ability to address social and political themes, finds a vibrant echo in the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat. His iconic style, a mix of graffiti, symbols, and texts, has inspired generations of artists, including Indonesians like Suryanto and Pink Tea Trash. Their works, charged with social criticism and cultural references, resonate with a contemporary audience seeking bold and authentic reflections on the world around them.

Suryanto, Puja Wardana and PinkTeaTrash are exploring themes of identity, society, and culture through a digital prism.

Their ability to blend elements of ancient culture with contemporary aesthetics offers a unique glimpse into the complex fabric of modern society.

With works that fuse ancient heritage with the challenges of the present, these three wonderful artists invite us to reflect on our roots and the endless possibilities that the future holds.

Suryanto is a renowned Digital Artist from Indonesia.

" Since my early years, I had a deep passion for drawing. I always been fascinated by the beautiful and captivating artworks of other artists, often wondering if I could ever achieve such greatness. I attempted to express my imagination in the digital canvas, exploring my shortcomings and turning them into what I call " the beauty of hidden imperfections."

Coming from a modest family, he often criticizes social issues by combining text with images, blending abstraction and figuration.

Suryanto incorporates historical information with contemporary critique, supporting the struggles of the lower class.

" I appreciate spontaneous paintings, drawing whatever comes to mind, and actively conveying messages of equality through rough art. Basquiat serves as the ultimate source of inspiration for me. Witnessing the vast gap between the poor and the rich, the societal divides that exist, I aim to use my art to prompt art enthusiasts to think and take action for social improvement in their surroundings.
