In 2014, after unelected state officials switched the City of Flint's water supply to the Flint River without appropriate treatment, residents began noticing that their water tasted bad, smelled foul, and came out of the tap discolored. 

The water was corroding the city's lead pipes, poisoning over 20,000 children, and killing dozens due to Legionnaires' disease. Ultimately 9 state officials were charged with criminal wrongdoing.
