Description

The Fanned Ficifolia, is a unique flowering gum endemic to coastal regions.

The hardy blossoms serve a functional role in protecting the pearl pollination station for bees.

The blue blossom attracts pollinators, and when it senses a predator, “fan” open and harden into protective spikes, warding predators from the pearl station. The pearls are not only visually striking, but provide the plant with added resilience.

Yellow tufts help reflect the sun to keep the plant cool in hot climates.

Overall, the unique coloring and protective fans of the Fanned Ficifolia make it a truly special plant species.
