This piece of video art embodies the sovereignty of
cryptoart, thriving outside the grasp of a state legislature
that attempts to govern gender and sexuality. By enacting
the core principles of cryptocurrency, โRELATING TO
THE AUTHORITY TO REGULATE SEXUALLY
ORIENTED PERFORMANCESโ highlights the power of
cryptoart to create and embody alternative systems of
value that exist independently of regimes. It serves as a
defiant statement against the infringement of trans
individualโs rights.
In โRELATING TO THE AUTHORITY TO REGULATE
SEXUALLY ORIENTED PERFORMANCESโ the artists
intentionally play with:
a) iconography: questioning the role of viewership,
gatekeeping, consumption, and control
b) progress: interrogating industrialization
and commodification as phallic by-products
c) body: commodified, realistic, sacrificed, vilified,
hypersexualized, and targeted
d) religion and masculinity: from architecture to
technology, what role does masculinity play in each part
of the image?
โRELATING TO THE AUTHORITY TO REGULATE
SEXUALLY ORIENTED PERFORMANCESโ is Part Three
of Sex & Speculation, a video art collaboration series
aimed at increasing the social and fiscal value of non-
male artwork within cryptoart.
โRELATING TO THE AUTHORITY TO REGULATE
SEXUALLY ORIENTED PERFORMANCESโ is curated
within the ClitSplash Erotika Volume II collection and will
be on exhibit at MadArts in Dania Beach, Florida on June
2nd and 3rd to kick off Pride month.
