Esigie was the Oba(king) of Benin who ruled the ancient Benin kingdom now Benin city, Edi state in Nigeria(C. 1504-C. 1550). A reputable achievement of oba Esigie was the abolishment of the killing of the king’s mother. He abolished it and crown his mother his mother the Eguae-Iyoba(palace of the queen mother). Esigie is the son of Idia.
