After years of development, he had perfected the first cybernetic augmentations, enhancing the human mind and senses thanks to the power of angelstone. These augmentations became widely used in the city of Aurich, where just about everyone you’d see was modified with some sort of computer in their head. Deeply rooted into the subconscious, these augmentations could act on the neurotransmitter level, altering the human mind invisibly.

Tampering with the hardware of one’s own physiology had unintended consequences, of course. One such happy accident was the advent of dreamwalking, a practice through which lucid dreamers could directly interact with the internet through their subconscious dream state. We all find our way to dreamworld each night, but only dreamwalkers recognize it as such. Weaving together the abstract blur of the memories and symbols lodged deep in one’s dreams with the ordered data structures of the internet technology embedded in the bodies of the elysian people, dreamworld was built.
