Vacations are pretty rare for my family. I am a creature of habit and prefer to stay close to my workstation. Still, I feel art is as much about seeking inspiration as it is expressing it so it's important to get out in the world in good measure.

This past summer my family and I were able to visit Jessie's family and then escape down to sunny Florida for a few precious days on the beach before heading back to Illinois and a new school year. To say it was much needed would be an understatement.

As much as I would love to work all the time, batteries must be recharged. Art is a marathon and not a sprint.

We didn't make it as far south as Key Largo but this scene is a tribute to the turbulent skies around Florida and the many colorful characters that inhabit its shores (and one in particular).
