This is one of my very first 3D renders, created using Bryce 2 sometime during 1996 while I was finishing my CS degree at the University of Iowa.
My mom (who has always nurtured my creativity) purchased me a nice PC when I earned my English degree in '95. I was going to use it to write my first novel but I didn't plan on was becoming engrossed in the 2D graphics programs that came bundled. One of them was called Kai Power Tools, and through that I learned of Bryce3D.
Where I had been using filters to create planets, abstract colors and fractals I was now able to build worlds inside my computer. 3D seemed far more intuitive to me and it soon became my main focus.
I created wallpapers because I had roommates and we shared my computer. Leaving my work on the desktop was the best way for them to ooh and aah over it 😂
By Feb 1997 I had a collection of 20 wallpapers and they formed the genesis of Digital Blasphemy. This was one of the most popular and the rest is history.
