Mithra is a solar deity worshiped in several cultures, which had its cult known as Mithraism or Mithraic Mysteries in Rome. This mysterious mythological hero has Greek, Buddhist, Indian and Persian attributes and influences.
The temples of worship of Mithra in ancient Rome were called Mitraeum, and always had on the altar the scene in relief known as Tauromaquia, full of rich archetypal and astrological symbology, in which this looped animation was faithfully inspired. Mithraism was one of the most important cults of pagan Rome and lost ground with the rise of Christianity, becoming a lost mystery.
