A Series of Three
Slogging into a cypress dome is one of my favorite ways to experience Everglades National Park. A narrow trail through the saw grass leads to the dome. Once inside a new world appears, bromeliads and ferns glow in the sun rays that break through the canopy above. Alligators, fish, and snakes silently make way through the shallow water. Soggy shoes and pants and a few cobwebs in the face is only a small price to pay for a view into a hidden world inside a stand of trees.
