Igniting. Growing. Deflating. Advancing. Retreating. Letting go. Forgetting. Remembering again. Starting over.

This piece began as a challenge from a collector to set a physical linoleum cut print on fire, in order to make a commentary on the relative value of NFT art as compared to physical art.

But in the months spent working on this project, it took on new life and showed me that it is about much more.

"Renacimiento" is about death, transformation, and rebirth. It is specifically about the loss of my father 6 years ago, memory, the experience of grief over time, and the juxtaposition of joy from becoming a father myself in the wake of this loss.

The soundtrack started with a guitar part that I recorded shortly before losing my dad. I added drums, bass, piano, organ, and more guitars. This was made solely with real analog instruments, all recorded in one take with almost no editing. Each bidder receives a 1/1 NFT photograph of an instrument, made during the recording process.
