The Monster Me Icon series came out of the need to create an anonymous online persona. During the rise of the Covid-19 pandemic, a sharp rise in Asian xenophobia started presenting itself. I would scour local message boards, google reviews, and Facebook groups to debunk all/any misconceptions people may have about the virus. I felt an obligation as an Asian American with decent English proficiency to say something. Anything.
