In August 2019, two clueless protestors interrupted a City Council meeting in Tucson, AZ, by screaming, spilling their Big Gulps, and holding their signs upside down. Some fled, others booed, while one man clad in a mint green polo laughed his way through the chaos. A meme was born.
The video took over the internet with multiple trending hashtags, appearances on major TV programs, and a run on green polo’s which caused them to sell out in stores and online. With over 40,000 retweets and 18 million views the Green Shirt Guy lives on as a meme and reaction GIF across the internet.
This is your chance to own a piece of internet and political history. This 1/1 NFT offered by the Green Shirt Guy -- Alex Kack, and journalist Nick VinZant commemorates the second anniversary of the Green Shirt Guy meme. A portion of proceeds from the original sale will go to support the work of Tucson’s People’s Defense Initiative, the organization behind the initiative being protested.
